William Donald "Don" Jones, age 83, of DeSoto entered into rest Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City. He had been employed 43 years as a foreman at Norfolk & Southern Railroad and was a U.S. Navy WW II veteran. Born May 14, 1928, in Madison, Illinois, to the late William Louis and Pearl (Anderson) Jones.
He is survived by his family which includes his fiance, Thelma Bradford of DeSoto; sons: Donald L. Jones of St Louis, Warren Jones of St Louis and Christopher (Brenda) Jones of Charlevoix, Michigan; daughters: Deborah L. Jones of St Louis and Paula (Lloyd) Meyer of Barnhart; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 2 brothers.
He was very active in the community being a lifetime member of Elks Lodge 1721 for 40 years, American Legion Post 253 for 52 years, Southside Brothers Lodge, charter member of Spirit of St Louis Masonic Lodge #27 for 54 years, Mississippi River Eagles, St Louis Lodge # 5 IOOF, Ascalon Commandery Post 16 of St Louis; he enjoyed volunteering at the lodges and gardening.
Reverend Jim Owens will officiate service.
