Richard A. "Dick" Christopher, Sr., 71, of DeSoto entered into rest at Jefferson Regional Medical Center on September 3, 2012. Born August 26, 1941 in DeSoto; he was the son of the late Leonard J. and Pauline V. (Erny) Christopher. He wed his loving wife, Joyce (nee Begley) Christopher on September 14, 1963 in St. Louis.
Mr. Christopher was a welder/carman for Missouri Pacific Railroad and Alton & Southern Railroad. Dick was a member of the TCIU-Lodge No 6078 Brotherhood of Railway Carmen Division, Past Commander and Life Time member of DeSoto Amvets Post #48 and 1st Degree Member of Council NO 1185 Knights of Columbus. He played Santa for JRMC Rehab. Annual Christmas Party and was an avid camper. He was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Amvets Post #48 to hold memorial service Sunday.
Mr. Christopher is survived by his wife, Joyce, a son, Richard A. Christopher,Jr of DeSoto, a daughter, Jodi L. Christopher and Dear Friend, Jeffrey Lewis also of DeSoto and Kokomo,Indiana; adopted grandchildren and God children, Matthew and Emily Politte; a brother, James (MI MI) Christopher of Farmington; three sisters, Patti Howard of Leadwood, Betty Cresswell of Ironton and Judith (James) Speidel of DeSoto. Mr. Christopher was a nephew of Violet Christopher Byrons, dear uncle and cousin. Also survived by brothers and sister-in-laws, Roy (Patti) Begley of Florissant, Robert (Estelle) Lavo of Lakeland, FL, and Helen Adams of Lenexa, KS. Preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-laws, Terry Howard, Clyde (Nick) Adams and Michael & Marsha Begley.
