Kenneth Lee Shorney, age 67, of of Barnhart, MO, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Born in David City, Nebraska on November 5, 1945, to the late Allen and Lorraine (Ulmer) Shorney. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years: Sandra "Gail" (Polley) Shorney of Barnhart, MO, sons: Kevin Shorney of Indianapolis, IN, John Lee of Villa Ridge, MO and Chris (Tammy) Lee of Parkers Prairie, MN, daughters: Kelly of Indianapolis, IN and Kris Blake of Oceanside, CA, grandchildren: Brian Lee, Andrew Shorney, Jeremy Shorney, Jordan Lee, Ashley Shorney, Amanda Shorney, Ashley Jeter, Alexis Jeter, Cassidy, Christina and Amanda Deckert, brothers: Roger (Lorrie) Shorney of Miller, MO, David Shorney of Plattsmouth, NE and James Shorney of Lincoln, NE.
He served his country for four years in the United States Navy. He was a Master Estimator for Travelers Insurance where he was employed for 32 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3777 of Festus, was a former member of the Missouri Arson Investigators, and was a I Car instructor. He grew up on the family farm. He was instrumental in changing the government in Jefferson County to a chartered county.
