Obituary
Willard J. Gowen, Sr., 80, of Desoto entered into rest on February 4, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Gowen was a Korean veteran having served in the US Army. He was self-employed as a timber logger and he was a member of the Agape Faith Church in Valles Mines. Born March 3, 1933 in Lesterville, Missouri; he was the son of the late Lee M. and Effie S. (nee Kennedy) Gowen.

Surviving famiy members are his loving wife of 56 years, Janet (Nee Johnson) Gowen; his sons, Willard "Dub" (Neysa) Gowen, Jr. of Washington, Richard (Keri) Gowen of Desoto, a daughter, Dody Dawes of Desoto; a brother, Pastor Glenn (Shirley) Gowen of Valles Mines; four sisters, Hazel (Jerry) McKenzie of Mississipi, Ruby Watson of Desoto, Margie Reynolds of Desoto, Joyce Thompson of Festus; grandchildren: Thomas (Monica) Dawes, Lisa (David) Sullivan, Kegan, Kyle, Kellen, Hannah and Courtney; and great-grandchildren, Sophie, Harley and Braelyn.

Preceding him in death was his parents, three brothers, Ernest Gowen, Alvin Gowen and Raymond Gowen, a grandson, Ryan and a great-grandson, Michael.

Pastor Glenn Gowen will be officiating the funeral service.
