L. Earl Byers, age 86, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 22, 2014 in Crystal City. Earl was born on March 25, 1928 in St. Louis to the late Arch B. and Delia M. (Nee Rowland) Byers. He was a Sales Supervisor for Neumayer Equipment Company until he retired. Earl served the Knights of Columbus #1185 at many levels, including 4th Degree,and from Grand Knight to District Deputy of District 43, He also served the Cardinal Glennon Assembly #567 as 4th Degree, Pilot, Elected Captain to Faithful Navigator and was elected delegate of Missouri for the Resolutions Committee of the Supreme Council, Member of the Electrical Union #1, and Plumbing & Pipe Fitting Industry of U.S. and Canada #35. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and was an Extrordinary Minister and an Usher for many years.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Rose A. (Nee Whitter) Byers and 66 wonderful years of marriage and memories. He is also survived by his sons; Dan(Mary) Byers of De Soto, Barry (Cheryl) Byers of Washington, MO, daughters; Rose Ann (Lindell) Cole of De Soto, Beverly (Joe) Seyfarth of De Soto, and Christy (Chris) Amsden of Festus, brothers; Don Byers of De Soto and Byron Byers of De Soto, grandchildren; Robin Cole (Rick Kime) of Festus, Gregg (Elizabeth) Cole of Columbia, IL, Tonya Seyfarth of Festus, Tammie (Bill) Yates of De Soto, Tiffany (Josh) Yates of De Soto, Lauren (Brian) Skaggs of Villa Ridge, Nicholas Earl Byers of Washington,Benjamin Byers of Washington, Ryan Amsden (Fiancee Raquel Durr) of Festus, Jacob, Mollie and Becca Amsden of Festus, great-grandchildren; Raelyn and Chase Cole of Festus, Lucas, Gavin, and Trevor Cole of Columbia, IL, Aaron and Lydia Dean of Festus, Tyler, Kenzie, and Natalie Yates of DeSoto, Joselynn, Chloe and Barret Yates of DeSoto and Liam Skaggs of Villa Ridge. He is also survived by Brother and Sister-in-laws, Paul & Jean Whitter of DeSoto, Virgil & Jane Owens of CA, Dick & Barb Lewis of De Soto,Jim Tidwell of DeSoto and nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Archie Byers & wife Thelma, Roger Byers, sisters, Kathleen Westbrook, Sybil Winkelman, Glenna Isgrigg & husband Ed, Judith Cooper and husband Herb, sister-in-laws, Mitzi and Ruby Byers.
The service will be officiated by Fr. Alexander Anderson, Msgr Jerome Buchheit and Deacon Ed Boyer.
