Spencer Earl "Log" Bland, age 93, of Festus entered into rest March 1, 2015 at Festus Manor Nursing Home of Festus. He was a retired glass worker at Pittsburgh Plate Glass, a WW II US Army veteran, a member of First United Methodist Church in Festus and a life member of American Legion Post 253. Mr. Bland enjoyed carpentry and building homes. Born July 23, 1921, in Crystal City, Missouri, to the late Walter Bland Sr. and Mary Luella (Higginsbottom) Bland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy A. (Cook) Bland on October 13, 2012.

Survived by his daughters: Beatrice (Mark) Campbell of Florissant, MO, Earline (the late Henry) Stewart of St. Louis, MO, Cassandra "Sandy" (the late James) Blanks of Crystal City, MO; grandchildren: Charles Roberts, Michael Roberts, Arlene (Charles) Goforth, Anita Holbrook, Carlton Stewart, Lori (Shawn) Butler, Shawn Bland, Jill (Michael) Wyms, and James Banks Jr.; nephew: Walter L. Bland III of St. Louis, MO; niece: Lena J. Bland of St. Louis, MO; great-niece: Lillian Manning of Crystal City, MO; brother-n-laws: Roland (Patricia) Cook of Seattle, WA, William Earl (Rhonda) Cook of Festus, MO; sister-n-laws: Jo Ann Bond of St. Louis, MO, Carol Dixon of Detroit, MI, Brenda Cook of St. Louis, MO.

In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by brothers: Edmond Bland, Raymond Bland, Walter Bland; sisters: Grace Stone, Nancy Tiggs, Bernice Bland and Agnes Bland; and brother-n-law: Stacy Cook Sr

The service will be officiated by Pastor Andy Blacksher
