William J. Whitter, 90, formerly of South St Louis entered into rest March 24, 2015 at Festus Manor in Festus, Missouri. He retired from Lincoln St Louis as a machinist and he was a member of Church of God in Inverness, FL. He was a member of Machinist Local 1345; he enjoyed hunting, church activities, playing the guitar and singing with his family and the "old days" of watching 'Wrestling at the Chase' on TV. Recent highlights in his life was celebrating his 90th birthday at the Crystal Boat Club with numerous family and friends in attendance and he was nominated Valentine King at the Festus Manor Valentine Party. Born March 8, 1925, in Melzo, Missouri, to the late James Edward and Julia (Rogers) Whitter. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances "Winona" (Rogers) Whitter on September 9, 2012.
Survived by his loving family which includes a daughter: Linda (Rob) Sportsman of Inverness, FL; sons: Douglas (Debbie) Whitter of Easton, MD, Dennis (Carolyn) Whitter of Shakopee, MN and W. Richard (Letha) Whitter of Lakeville, MN; sister-in-law: Helen Whitter of DeSoto, MO; grandchildren: Dana (Jim) Hutchinson, Daneen (Russell) Buehler, Dawna Kenkel, Richard (Janet) Whitter, Lindy (Joel) Wiersum, Kelly (Kyle) Berkness, Emmy Whitter, Abby (Jonathan) Elliott, Jessica (Joshua) Hanson and the late Jenna Whitter; 23 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers: Marvin Whitter, Everett Whitter and Burnell Whitter; sisters: Genevieve (the late Andrew) Politte, Myrtle (the late Floyd) Portell and Mabel Whitter.
This celebration of life will be held in honor of Mr. William J. Whitter and wife Mrs. Frances "Winona" (Rogers) Whitter.
