Obituary
Bertha Ella (Carter) Guffey-Hurt, 78, entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 20, 2016 at her residence in Piedmont. Born September 15, 1938, in Leachville, AR, to the late Carl Carter and Opal Agnes (Harrison) Carter. She was a homemaker, a former member of Rose of Sharon and Freewill Baptist Church, a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Piedmont; liked flowers, gardening, and going to church. She is preceded in death by her first husband Oliver Oneal Guffey and her second husband Carl D. Hurt.

She is survived by her loving family which include sons: Jerry Guffey of Troy, MO, Dennis Guffey of TX, Robert Guffey of St. Louis, MO; daughter: Tammy Ames of TX; brother: Carl (Pam) E. Carter of Gulf Port, MS; grandchildren: Eric Ames, Amy & Jamie Evans, Artie & Crystal Rankin, Debbie Rankin; great-grandchildren: Aubrey Ann, Weston, William, Mason, and Colton and friends, Brother Mike Warren and Pastor Pete Ruble of Harvest Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and her 1st and 2nd husbands she is preceded in death by her daughter: Deborah (Darrell) Fisher; brothers: William Lee Carter,Thomas H Carter, Carl Wayne Carter; sisters: Dorothy Wright, Betty Warner, Reba Bremer, Lorene Mary Petty, Linda Carter; and granddaughter, Jennifer Rankin.

Brother Bob Thebeau will officiate the service at Freewill Baptist Church.
