Obituary
Edward “Ed” L. Cohoon, 79, entered into eternal rest at his Crystal City residence on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. In May of 1958 Ed was honorably discharged from the United States Navy with a Good Conduct medal (first award) and a National Defense Service medal. He was retired as a store manager for Western Auto where he worked for 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 253, Amvets Post 42, life time member of Mercy Jefferson Hospital Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1721.

Lodge offices held: Esquire, Inner Guard, Tiler, Secretary, Lecturing Knight, Loyal Knight, Leading Knight, and Exalted Ruler from 1974-1975 and 1994-1995.

District offices held: Marshal, District Director, Vice-President, served as Chairman of district golf and picnic committees for many years.

State offices held: President – elect 2007-2008, Missouri 100th State President 2008-2009, served as State Ritual Chairman 2003-2012, was responsible for starting the State Softball tournaments.

Grand Lodge Offices held: Esquire to District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, served as Grand Lodge Ritual Judge four times.

In past years, he was an active bowler and avid golfer. He enjoyed the last 12 years as a volunteer at Mercy Jefferson Hospital, Festus, Missouri. Born April 29, 1937 in Benton, Illinois to his late father and mother, Robert and Fleta Fern (Dethrow) Cohoon.

Survived by his loving family which include his wife, Kathryn “Kay” (Nason-Lemme) Cohoon; son: Darvin (Veronica) Lemme of Columbia, MO; daughters: Mary (James) Fakes of Festus, MO, Lynne (Douglas) Wendel of Festus, MO, Leslee (Earl Jr.) Cook of Festus, MO; son: Eddie (Christy) Cohoon of Affton, MO; daughters: Cheryl (Danny) Eubanks of Nashville, TN, Sandra Sredl of Pacific, MO, Katherine (John) LaRosa of Atlanta, GA; brother: Robert (Alice) Cohoon of Festus, MO; half sister: Leona Case of Orlando, FL; fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandsons, and two nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his half-sister Josephine Anna Roberts.
