Obituary
Theodore "Ted" Lee Reed, age 83, entered into rest January 14, 2017 at Mercy Jefferson Hospital, Festus. He had worked as an operating engineer at Reynolds Aluminum Corporation and was a U.S. Army veteran who had served in the Korean War and received 2 Purple Heart Medals. Ted was a member of Operating Engineering Union, Steel Workers Union, he did a lot of excavating work at Goose Creek; he liked to dance and help others but especially loved spending time with his family. Born June 11, 1933, in Madison, Illinois, to the late Charles and Annie (Langston) Reed. Survived by his loving family which includes: daughters: Helen (Scott) Lichtenberg of Barnhart, MO and Geraldine (Leslie) Whitecotton of Belleville, IL; brother: Donald Reed of FL; sister: Marcella (Jerry) Adams of Granite City, IL; grandchildren: Bradley (Cassandra) Lichtenberg, Amanda (Emmanuel) Johnson, Leslie Whitecotton, Jr, Theodore Herrara and Christopher Whitecotton; great grandchildren: Leslie (Kayley) Whitecotton III and Luke (Hailey) Johnson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Dixie (May) Reed; daughter: Stacey Lacey; brothers: Harold, Charles, Noel and Kenny Reed; sisters: Ova Carlson, Doris Young and Lola Pearl Barylski.
