Obituary
James E. "Jim" Turner Sr. passed away on February 11, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 74.

Jim was born on April 25, 1943, in St. Louis. He was raised in Fletcher and DeSoto, Mo., and attended Hillsboro H.S. After graduation in 1961, he served in the United States Air Force, and then returned home to Jefferson County, where he lived the rest of his life – in Hillsboro and DeSoto. He retired in 1996, after 30 years as a truck driver.

His family is fortunate to have many happy memories of Jim. He loved bluegrass and country music, restoring old cars and riding motorcycles, traveling in his RV, and spending time with family and friends. When his kids were young, he started an annual Turner family reunion that brought together extended family from several states each year. Everyone enjoyed camping together at Meramec State Park during the reunion weekends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Edna Turner; bio parents Timothy Turner and Vivian Null; and by a grandson, Kyle Turner. He is survived by his wife Donna Turner; his three children: Jim Bartlett Turner and wife Beverly (sons Simon and Eli), of Louisville, Ky.; Lori Turner Corzine and husband Chris (son Logan), of St. Louis, Mo.; and Chris Turner and wife Mandy, of Denver, Co.; his children’s mother Sandy McCann; and by his sisters Hazel McBroom and husband Jerry; Shirley Anderson and husband Jim; and Doris Courtois and husband Jim; half siblings Gloria (Ray) Todd, Lanora Cordia, Timothy (June) Turner, Joe (Chris) Turner, George (Sharon) Turner and Gerald (Jill) Turner; He is also survived by Donna’s children and grandchildren: Johnny and Maria Williams (daughters Lauren and Alex); Lisa and Jason Yoast (daughters Mikayla and Rachel); and Scott and Jessica Williams (daughters Anna and Quinn), as well as “adoptive grandson” Ricky Williams. He is also survived by a large extended family.

The family will celebrate Jim’s life during a joint visitation and memorial service at Parkview Baptist Church in DeSoto, Mo., from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018. The visitation will begin at 3 p.m., with the memorial service at 7 p.m. The family asks that any memorial gifts go to Parkview Baptist Church.
