Joseph August Hosner, age 97 of Hematite, Missouri, entered into rest March 29, 2018 at Scenic View Nursing Center, Herculaneum. He had worked in accounting/purchasing/hiring department at ABB Combustion Engineering and was a WW II U S Navy veteran. Joe was a member of American Legion Post 253, V.F.W. Post 3777, Knights of Columbus, a volunteer with Hematite Fire Department, and he had worked with Adopt-A-Road on State Hwy P and Sunnyside. His hobbies included dancing, homing pigeon racing, making homemade wine and gardening; he loved spending time with family. Born August 2, 1920, in Pawnee, Illinois, to the late Joseph and Mary (Schust) Hosner.
Survived by his loving family which includes his wife of 60 years, Wilma Jean (Caviecy) Hosner, children, Kathleen (Paul)Firle of Crystal City, MO, Gwen (Calvin) Chambers of Dora, MO, William (Julie) Hosner of Arnold, MO, Ramona (Dave McDonald) Ferguson of Crystal City, MO and Robert (Mandy) Hosner of Crestwood, MO, brother, John (Tenna) Hosner of Blacksburg, VA, grandchildren, Luke Firle, Mark (Cassie) Firle, Matthew (Lisa) Warren, Robert (Tammie) Ferguson, Josh (Sam) Boyer, Nathan (Kriston) Reynolds, Michayla Boyer, Toby Hosner, Ty Hosner and Zeke Hosner, and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Hosner and Albert Hosner, sister, Mary Ann Kindle.
Father Maassen will officiate Mass.
*** Family and friends will meet at Mahn Funeral Home at 9:15 am Monday for procession to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
