Major Kevin Lee Kinder, was born on November 21, 1956, in Festus, Missouri, to the late Lorena and William Kinder, Sr, who raised him and his siblings in a Christian home, serving God at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Festus. He graduated from Festus High School and went on to attend and graduate from Northeast Missouri State University with a Bachelors in Health and Physical Education and Kentucky State University with a Master of Public Administration Personnel Management.

Kevin was an accomplished athlete; he was very determined to excel in every sport he participated in; track and field, football, wrestling, karate, playing the trumpet and piano/keyboard. He composed and played many of his own compostions. After graduating from college he enlisted in the United States Army. He rose to the top of the ranks becoming a Major. Prior to retiring from the military he began his career as an educator and served as an adjunct professor at Kentucky State University and overseer of the ROTC program. He served as school administrator in the Ferguson/Florissant School District, taught Adult Education at Allied College and his final tenure as an educator back in his hometown of Festus, at Festus Middle School where he recently retired.

He immersed himself in his loves- community, nature, fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Survived by his loving family which includes his daughter, Alicia Kinder-Wimbley (Ryan), son, Adrian, special son, Danny Kinder-Key, grandchildren, Dylan, Christian and Reagan Wimbley, brother, William, special niece, Denise Shye Sams and a host of relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Sherri Lynn Kinder, sister, Doris and brother, Brian.

***Procession going to Jefferson Barracks will meet at Mahn Funeral Home at 11 am with procession leaving at 11:30 am on Mon, May 14, 2018
