Obituary
Bruce Wayne King, Born February 14, 1951,Passed away August 19, 2018 . Bruce was a Much Loved Son, Brother, Father, Husband, Uncle, Grandfather, & Friend to Many. He has 4 Living siblings, Jeffrey, Terry, Karen (Bufalo) & Robin (McKenna); and an older brother David, who died fighting for his country in Vietnam. Bruce was also preceded in death by both parents Gerald & Virginia (Meier) as well as all his Grandparents & a nephew Jessie. He So Loved His Music & Sports, especially Baseball. Bruce was a huge fan of both Black Sabbath & The St Louis Cardinals . He especially Loved Spending time with his sons Nicholas & Nathan King. Husband for 23 yrs to April Marie (Riegert, King), & stepfather to Jeremiah & Travis Essmyer. Bruce also had Many nieces & nephews he so dearly loved. Bruce had spent time in the military, & was trained to be an artillery surveyor as he spent time in Germany. He Retired from American Can Co in St Louis, then found work in the firework manufacturing business for 10 additional years, before completely retiring 2 years ago. He Enjoyed Working around his home, gardening & maintaining the small “mini-farm” he & his wife shared together. Bruce Especially Loved traveling with his wife to multiple Caribbean destinations, where the two of them shared their great love of scuba diving together, where He also made friends with a small handful of like minded travelers from across the US & Canada who have become "Family", Family , Just like the small group of close friends from here in Missouri. From his childhood neighborhood of "Dogtown", while attending Dewey & Southwest High School, & to the friends made over the years. Friends that have along with Bruce's Family & other Loved ones, Shared So many great times together making great memories that will last forever. Lastly, Bruce Truly enjoyed being a Grandpa to his three Wonderful grandchildren, Braden, Kendall & Lorelei. He was so Proud of them. Bruce will be Sorely Missed by all who knew & Loved him including his 2 fur babies, Baby Girl & Sophie. RIP. Until we meet again. Special Thanks to Kindred Hospice for assisting Bruce in “ Staying at Home” where he could be surrounded by those he Loved. Bruce’s Wish was to be cremated . His Service will be as follows: Friday, August 24th, Memorial Gathering & Service: 2p-5 @ Mahn Funeral Home 900 N. Main, DeSoto, Mo. 63020 & Immediately Followed by A Remembrance & Celebration Dinner from 5p till Dark @ DeSoto Community Center, 400 Boyd Street, DeSoto, MO.
