Leroy Louis Godat, age 97, of DeSoto, MO, entered into eternal rest on January 31, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at his residence. Born in Richwoods, MO, on October 26, 1921, to his late parents, Walter and Addie (Hill) Godat. Leroy was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as an engineer at Wagner Electric Corp. until his retirement. He was a volunteer at the Kingston School District for nearly 15 years. His hobbies included ham radio, designing and building dollhouses, and model railroading. He loved baseball and bluegrass music and he was a country fiddler for several years. He enjoyed feeding the birds and taking care of his home. Leroy loved his cat, Gato.

Survived by his loving family, sons Michael (Claudia) Godat of Blackwell, MO, and Ken Godat of Tucson, AZ; daughter Susan Ferguson of Independence, MO; sister Virgalee Shoptaugh of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Larissa, Derek, Morgan, Justin and Shannon; and great-grandchildren Paloma, Ian and Leah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte (Allison) Godat, and his parents. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at Mahnís, with a private service for family at the cemetery.
