Obituary
Robert Lee Maddox Jr. 85 of Valley Mines, passed away, Monday April 15, 2019 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus. He was born on June 1, 1933 in Bernie MO to the late Robert Maddox, Sr. & Grace (Lape) Maddox. He and Ellen Rosalie Iles were married on February 20, 1957. He was a medic in the Air Force from 1952-1956. His traveling, led him to the Frisco Employees hospital. He served as an orderly from 1956-1966. This job is where he met his beautiful wife Ellen. He then worked for Jefferson County on the highway department. He became a business owner for 6 years, of the Valley Service Station, in Valley Mines. Being versatile, he went to barber school and continue to cut hair at Bob’s Barber & Style, until the ay of his death. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 119 in DeSoto and the VFW Post 3777 in Festus. Robert enjoyed woodworking, playing in the yard, riding his tractor and skinny dippin’. More than anything, he loved his family! Together with his wife, they raised 5 children. Survivors include his wife Ellen of 62 years, sons, David (Kathy) Maddox of DeSoto, Mike (Terry) Maddox of Hillsboro; daughters, Debbie (John Perryman) Smith of Festus, Diana Hayes of Festus, Cathy (Gina) Thomas of Cape Girardeau; sisters, Sissy (Doyle) Burnett of Harrison Arkansas and JoAnn (Leonard) Pack of Bloomfield; 11 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
