Claudia Jenness Lawrenz, 73, of DeSoto died peacefully July 4, 2019, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis with her usual strength and positive attitude showing. Mrs. Lawrenz was born February 17, 1946 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of the late Edwin W. and Elizabeth B. Lidell. Growing up in several Wisconsin communities, she studied vocal music at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Upon marriage to Jerome F. Lawrenz, her loving husband of 52 years, they moved to the St. Louis area for further education and careers and where son, Erik C., was born and now resides with his wife, Sarah, and Claudia's grandsons Magnus Lawrenz and Brandon Jones. She shared her vocal talents through several choirs while residing in St. Louis and DeSoto, including Bel Canto, Cornerstone Chorale, St. Louis Womens Chorale, and The Missouri Womens Chorus. She retired from McCarthy Construction Company and then contributed her organizational skills and enthusiasm to Get Healthy DeSoto and the DeSoto Farmers Market. She will also be remembered for her gentle warmth, integrity, openness to everyone, and deep love of family, friends, singing, gardening, painting, and life.
Survived by brother, Wynn (Karyn) Lidell and nieces: Andrea (Greg), Ellie, Lucy, and Charlie Egbert and Jacy (Matt), Emmett, Owen, and Hudson Young.
Preceded in death by parents in law George and Louise Lawrenz and their son Charles. Mrs. Lawrenz chose to be cremated. A celebration of life service will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice in Mrs. Lawrenz name.
