Obituary
Jack Schneider, 86 of Festus, passed away on April 27, 2020 at Crystal Oaks Nursing facility. He was born in Flat River, Missouri on August 14, 1933 to the late Louis A. Schneider and Olga Marie (Hamors) Huff. Jack served his country in the United States Amy during the Korean War at Fort Hancock, NJ. After serving his country, he graduated from Flat River Junior College in 1957, with an Associate of Pre-Teaching degree in Elementary Education and from Washington University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Jack taught elementary school for the Fox C-6 School District for 33 years.

He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Jeannette (Seals) Schneider, his parents and one sister, Shirley A. Stephen. Jack is survived by his three children, Cara (Bill) Akridge of Festus, Bob (Donna) Schneider of DeSoto and Marc (Gwen) Schneider of Savannah, Georgia; three grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa) Akridge of St. Louis, Bill (Sarah) Akridge of Festus, Madison Schneider of Portland, Oregon, one great grandchild, Macy Akridge, an aunt, Bernice Lilley of Jefferson City and numerous nieces and nephews.

After retiring from teaching, he worked as a security guard for Dow Chemical for several years and volunteered at Mercy Jefferson. Jack was a devoted father and Christian. He was a spiritual man and involved in many church activities. He was also an active member of The Gideons and will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Visitation, following COVID-19 guidelines is scheduled from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus. A private family funeral service will follow with burial at Jefferson Barracks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideon International Fund, P.O. Box 601, DeSoto, MO 63020.
