Elton Lee Brown of Hillsboro passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at his residence at the age of 89 years. He was born on December 10, 1930 at Jonesboro, Arkansas the son of the late Anthony and Martha (Branscum) Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Laura Mae (Dyer) Brown, a daughter Jennifer Prunty, a grandson David Michael Bolin, four brothers and two sisters.
Elton was an auto mechanic by trade and worked the assembly line at General Motors from where he retired. He was a member of the United Auto Workers union and a long-time and faithful member of the First Assembly of God Herculaneum where he served as a deacon for many years and was involved in music ministry. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing and often visited local nursing homes where he and his late wife would perform for the residents. He was a hard worker, a faithful Christian, and a dedicated family man.
He will be missed by all those he leaves behind, including his daughter Debbie (John) Bolin of Crystal City, grandson Joshua (Brittany) McKeen of Festus, a great-grandson Liam McKeen, and numerous other relatives and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus. Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the funeral home with the Reverend James Kitchen officiating. Interment will be in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart.
