Obituary
Doris (Casteel) Adams-Winheim of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020 at her home at the age of 90 years. She was born on July 22, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Clarence T. and Natella (Hampton) Casteel Sr. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Roy G. Adams, Sr., second husband Alan M. Winheim, a brother Clarence “Junior” Casteel, and four sisters, Betty Wood, Thelma Warnacke, Hilda Brewer, and Freda Atkinson.

She was a member of the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene and the Starcraft Campers Club. Doris had traveled extensively throughout the world during her lifetime and enjoyed talking about all the places she had been to. She particularly enjoyed the cruises she went on with her family, her last one being only a few months ago. Though she enjoyed her travels, her true passion was dancing, especially line dancing. She spent many evenings and weekends with family and friends, dancing and laughing and enjoying life.

Her adventurous spirit and energy will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her including her three sons, Roy G. and wife Theresa Adams, Jr. of Festus, Ricky D. and wife Ann Adams of Hillsboro, and Chris R. and wife Marsha Adams of Festus, two step-children Mark and wife Louise Winheim of the State of Virginia and Gail and husband James Risse of St. Louis, a brother the Reverend Howard Casteel, 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, June 29, 2020 at the Mahn Funeral Home in Desoto. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at the funeral home at 9 am and continue until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 am with the Reverend Howard Casteel officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene, 201 2nd St, Annapolis, MO 63620.
