IMPORTANT UPDATE: SOME OF THE FAMILY OF WALTER MCDOWELL HAVE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID 19. IT IS UNKNOWN AT HIS TIME EXACTLY WHO HAS BEEN EXPOSED. DUE TO THIS DEVELOPMENT THE FAMILY HAS DECIDED TO CANCEL THE SERVICES AT THE CHURCH. GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL BE CONDUCTED. SHOULD YOU FEEL IT NECESSARY TO ATTEND, IT IS ADVISED THAT YOU WEAR A MASK, PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING, AND USE HAND SANITIZER.

Walter Monroe McDowell, 94, of Branson, Missouri, passed away, Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in Branson, Missouri. He was born June 29, 1926 in River Mines, Missouri, son of James Monroe McDowell and Clara Blanche (Hawthorne) McDowell.

Walter worked as a press operator for Alvie Manufacture Company until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, going on vacations, but most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family.

He was a member of Radiant Life Church.

He is survived by his son, Marvin and Pat McDowell of Hillsboro, Missouri, son, John and Carolyn McDowell of De Soto, Missouri, son, Donny and Stacie McDowell of Bonne Terre, Missouri, son, Charles Wayne and Lynn Street of Piedmont, Missouri, daughter, Mary McDowell of De Soto, Missouri, daughter, Loretta and Ron Thompson of De Soto, Missouri, daughter, Sharon McCauley of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, daughter, Brenda Street of Branson, Missouri, daughter, Linda Sue and Stan Johnson of Festus, Missouri, brother, Harold McDowell of Georgia, brother, Eugene and Midge McDowell of Fredericktown, Missouri, sister, Blanche Wilson of Farmington, Missouri, eighteen grandchildren, forty seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Beatrice McDowell, his second wife, Pauline McDowell, father, James Monroe McDowell, mother, Clara Blanche McDowell, brother, Darrell McDowell, brother, Baby Joel McDowell, sister, Elizabeth McDowell, sister, Ethel Burbaugh, sister, Alberta Lee, sister, Grace Pulliam, sister, Violet Masek, sister, Glenda McDowell.

Graveside Services will be held at Mount Pisgah Cemetery, Silva, Missouri, July 29, 2020 at 12:00 pm with Reverend Randy Gray officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahn Funeral Home Twin City Chapel, Festus, Missouri.
