Obituary
William Howard “Billy” Harness of DeSoto passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 at his home at the age of 85 years. He was born on March 6, 1935 at DeSoto, the son of the late Deck and Alice (Henry) Graham. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Dexter Harness.

Billy was a retired Carpenter and was regarded as a highly skilled craftsman by all those who worked alongside him. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and was a longtime volunteer and founding organizer of the Jefferson County Next Steps for Life Foundation formerly the JCARC. He proudly served his country in the Missouri Army National Guard and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis of 1960-61. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and caring for his dogs but his greatest joy came from time spent with his beloved family.

He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him including his wife Stella L. (Yarbrough) Harness of DeSoto, a son Michael (Jody) Harness of DeSoto, daughters Debbie (Bob) Duncan of Festus and Patrice (Scott) Parson of Farmington, his sister Candy Jones of Gloucester, UK, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives, dear friends, and neighbors.

Visitation will be held from 5 -8 pm on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 12 pm and continue until the time of the service at 2 pm in the Mahn Chapel. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Jefferson County Next Steps for Life Foundation, PO Box 97, Mapaville, MO 63065.
