Obituary
Alvis "Ted" Francis, 93, of DeSoto, Missouri, passed away, Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in DeSoto, Missouri. He was born November 27, 1927 in Fisk, Missouri, son of Alfred W Francis and Florence (Joiner) Francis.

Ted served in the U.S. Navy from November 8, 1945 to October 8, 1947 and participated in "Operation Crossroads". The atomic tests, on U.S.S. Mayrant. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he would go on to work at Missouri Pacific Railroad as a Manager of Customer Billing and retiring after forty years. He would then go on to work for Mahn Funeral Home, DeSoto, Missouri as a funeral director assistant, and he served as a deacon, a trustee, bus driver and RA Leader for many years at First Baptist Church.

In his free time, Ted enjoyed reading the bible, serving on mission trips with the church, golfing with friends, fishing, camping and boating.

On August 20, 1949, in Corinth, Mississippi, he was united in marriage to Connie H. Rien, and to this union four children were born. They shared seventy-one years of wonderful marriage together.

He is survived by his wife Connie Francis of DeSoto, his children, Barb Francis (Mark) Selikson, of Radnor, Pennsylvania, Mike (Emily) Francis of Chesterfield, Rick (Susan) Francis of DeSoto, and Allan (Christine) Francis of Natchez, Mississippi, his ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred W Francis, his mother, Florence (Joiner) Francis, and his sister, Wanda P Carney.

The family has asked that anyone coming to the services that they would wear a mask and social distance during this time.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church, DeSoto, Missouri, December 28, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Gene Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery, DeSoto, Missouri.

Friends will be received at First Baptist Church, De Soto, Missouri Monday, December 28, 2020, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Building Fund at First Baptist Church, DeSoto, Missouri.
