Obituary
John Izell Shores, Sr, age 90, entered into rest June 6, 2022 at Mercy Hospital Springfield.

He attended elementary school and graduated from Douglass High School in 1951. After graduation he entered into the US Air Force; after serving 20 years he retired in August 1971 as E6. After retirement he worked 15 years for Lever Brothers in St Louis as supervisor in the finishing department and retired from there in 1987.He then went on to work for Lemme Funeral Home and then Mahn Funeral Homes for numerous years.

His community service consisted of serving on the Crystal City Park board and on call Chaplain at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was a lifetime member of the Douglass Alumni Association and life time member of VFW Post 3777 and American Legion Post 253. He served as President of Peace Makers organization and treasurer of Mount Zion Cemetery organization. He was Worshiper Master of Goodwill Lodge # 99, Prince Hall affiliation. A member of Eureka Consistory #29 and Grand Inspector General 33rd degree of the United States Supreme Council.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Mae Shores, parents Izell Shores and Eleanor Williams and step-father, Harold Brown and brother, Earl Brown, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, John (Jacqueline) Shores, Jr of Decatur, IL, Craig (Song) Shores of Port St John, FL, Curtis Andre (Tyrone Graves) Shores of Austin, TX, a daughter, Teresa Shores of St Louis, 7 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren, caring friend, Eloise Pittman and her son Terrence (Judith) Pittman, brother, Mark (Michele) Brown, sister-in-law, Lavada Brown, special nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and friends.

Reverend Kenneth Griffin will officiate the service.
