Murrell J. Boyer, 72, of DeSoto passed away at his home on February 14, 2009. Born June 15, 1936 in Blackwell; he was the son of the late Stephen C. and Fannie S. (Durbin) Boyer. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley M. Boyer.
Mr. Boyer was plant manager for Haake Manufacturing, DeSoto. He was also a member of the National Guard. He met with the Hardee's Boys Bible study group; and loved wearing his cowboy hat and western clothes. Mr. Boyer was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Along with his wife, he is survived by 3 sons: Murrell James Boyer of Warrenton, Darren (Theresa)Boyer of Hillsboro, and Rodney Boyer of DeSoto; 2 daughters: Darla (Clyde) Counts of High Ridge and Angela Mary (Tony) Roth of DeSoto; 13 grandchildren: Amy, Chuck, Jennifer, Shirley, Carrie, Jackie, Dustin, Tiffany, Stephanie, Kristi, Adam, Aubrie, and Tristen; 8 great-grandchildren: Joey, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Jayden, Brenden, Carson, Carter and Paitan; a brother: Mark (Debbie) Boyer of DeSoto, and 2 sisters: Marilyn (Gordon) Redfield of DeSoto and Judith (Dale) Childress of Sullivan; 1 sister-in-law, Norma Boyer of DeSoto. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Stephen Lee Boyer and Lindell Martin Boyer.
Funeral mass will be officiated by Monsignor Jerome Buchheit.
