Margaret M. Hahlweg, 85, of DeSoto, entered into rest Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Baisch Nursing Center in DeSoto. Margaret was born to the late Louis and Gladys (nee Benton) Rieffer in Irondale, Missouri on November 25, 1924. She was the loving wife of Walter R. Hahlweg until his death in 2006. She is survived by her son, Larry (Dorothy) Hahlweg of Irondale, daughters, Joan (John) Southard of Atlanta, GA, and Debbie (Scot) Holmes of Hillsboro and grandchildren Julie, Nick, Chet, and Charlie.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Harold Rieffer.
Margaret had been a member of the P.T.A. and Mother's Club in Mehlville School District when her children were young, she loved sewing, embroidering, cooking, and dancing.
Margaret was one of the "Rosie the Riveters" during World War II. (Rosie the Riveter is a cultural icon of the United States, representing the American women who worked in factories during World War II, many of whom worked in the manufacturing plants that produced munitions and war supplies. These women sometimes took entirely new jobs replacing the male workers who were in the military.)
