Clarence M. Jones, age 97, of Florissant, MO (formerly of DeSoto) entered into rest on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. He was the retired owner of Jones' IGA on Main Street in DeSoto and was one of the original founders of the State Bank of DeSoto. He was a World War II US Coast Guard veteran, a member and former commander of the DeSoto VFW Post #1831, as well as a member of Amvets Post #42 of DeSoto, DeSoto Chapter #15 Order of the Eastern Star, DeSoto Masonic Lodge #119, and a top officer in all bodies of the York Rite and was elected to the Knights of the York Cross of Honor. Clarence was also a member of the Moolah Shriners of St Louis.
Born April 13, 1914, in Herrin, Illinois, to the late James and Josephine (Smith) Jones. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Hinson) Jones; dear father of Sharon Kamman, dear grandfather of Stacy and Christopher, all of Florissant. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 Sisters.
There will be a special service by the VFW on July 6th at 6:00 pm, and by the Masonic Lodge at 7:00 pm in the Chapel. Pastor Wilburn Hinch will officiate the funeral service on Thursday.
