Van D. Green, 84, formerly of O'Fallon, Missouri, entered into rest at his residence in DeSoto on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. He was born, June 10, 1927 to the late Hogan and Evie (Lemons) Green in Paris, Tennessee. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served aboard the U.S. Nereus. He was awarded the American Area Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and served until July 1944. He married Betty (Keating)who preceded him in death.
He is survived by sons: Stephen (Laurie)Green of Swansea, IL, David (Marcia) Green of Festus, MO, Randy (Tami) Green of Granite City, IL, Bradley (Regina) Green of St. Peters, MO, Bryan (Judy) Green of St. Petersburg, FL and Danny Green of St. Louis, MO; daughters: Glenda (Norman) Pyeatt of Lake St. Louis, MO, Deborah (Gary) Hall of Robertsville, MO, and Kimberly Grimes of O'Fallon, MO; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a granddaughter, Amber, brother, Dale Green, and sisters, Bernadine, Berline and Oneida.
He was a member of the VFW in Cuba, Missouri and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Rev. Gene Moses will officiate the services.
